The Internet has created the world’s most unsafe and heartless communities in the same place we’re building our society’s future.

Our most sensitive people, our most marginalized people—the people we need to lead us into a more empathetic future—are being crushed into the ground.

We believe these same people are crucial in the direction and guidance of our future, so we certainly can’t build a compassionate community without them.

With this in mind, we’ve created the &yet Community Scholarship because we want to empower the underrepresented to have a voice and an active role in shaping our community and future communities to come.

Scholarship requirements

Anyone from an underrepresented group is invited to apply for this scholarship. This includes, but is not limited to: women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ people, disabled people, and people facing economic or social hardships.

Applicants must also agree to honor our Code of Conduct, because joining the community means you agree to uphold those standards, for the safety of everyone.

The application process is simple

Share your vision

First, tell us what you believe a great, positive, and safe online community should be. We love learning about making community better for everyone, and your ideas definitely help guide that process.

We’d also love your help spreading the value of a positive, inclusive online community, so it would be awesome if you’d share this online (blog post, gist, video, or site) and send us a link so we can share it with others, too. If you prefer to keep your thoughts private, you can send us an email at

Tell us your story

We want to know why you’re excited about joining the &yet Community; what you hope to gain from the experience, what you hope to bring to the community, and maybe even a third thing we couldn’t even begin to think of to ask from you!

Send it to us!

Send us an email with your story and a link to your vision (or include it in your email). We’ll get back to you within one week.

Look forward to hearing from you!
